Did You Set Goals for a Reason? Turning Resolutions Into Results

Course Objectives

  1. Revisit the Purpose Behind Your Goals
Learners will explore whether their goals were driven by internal motivation, peer pressure, or arbitrary expectations—and realign them with a deeper sense of purpose.

  2. Clarify and Write Down Goals for Daily Visibility
Learners will commit to writing their goals in a visible place and reviewing them consistently to increase follow-through and reconnect with their “why.”

  3. Break Annual Goals Into 90-Day Action Plans
Learners will reframe big yearly goals into quarterly milestones, improving clarity, confidence, and momentum through smaller, more manageable steps.

  4. Differentiate Between End Goals and Means Goals
Learners will analyze the real purpose behind common goals (e.g., revenue growth, weight loss) to uncover emotional motivators like confidence, freedom, or impact.

  5. Visualize Success and Anticipate Setbacks
Learners will engage in guided visualization exercises to connect with who they want to become—and plan responses for likely challenges or disruptions along the way.

  6. Assess Whether Current Goals Still Align
Learners will periodically pause to ask: Is this still what I want?—giving themselves permission to pivot goals if they no longer align with their values or bring joy.

  7. Define Goals Using SMART Criteria
Learners will revise or clarify their goals to ensure they are Specific, Measurable, Achievable (yet stretched), Relevant, and Time-bound.

  8. Use Weekly Review Systems for Accountability and Course Correction
Learners will implement a personal weekly review (e.g., Sunday evening planning) to reflect, reprioritize, and recommit to what matters most.

  9. Focus on the Journey Over the Destination
Learners will embrace the process of personal and professional growth through goal pursuit—valuing who they become along the way, not just what they achieve.

  10. Anchor Goals in Meaning Beyond Money and Ego
Learners will assess if their goals are rooted in meaningful outcomes (e.g., personal growth, team culture, family well-being) rather than superficial validation.
