New Products and Adjuncts to Offer in Hygiene
Â
Course Objectives
- Understand the Clinical Foundation for Adding Adjunctive Products
Learners will assess their current hygiene department protocols—including perio percentage benchmarks and diagnostic consistency—to determine readiness for incorporating new adjuncts. - Identify Adjunctive Products by Category and Purpose
Learners will categorize available adjuncts into diagnostic (e.g., salivary testing), therapeutic (e.g., lasers, PerioProtect, HybenX), and preventive (e.g., fluoride varnish, Curodont) and understand their clinical use cases. - Select Adjuncts Based on Patient Needs and Risk Profiles
Learners will evaluate which patients are most appropriate for early adoption of adjunctive care based on systemic conditions, inflammatory burden, or specific disease indicators. - Develop a Plan for Team Implementation and Training
Learners will create an implementation strategy that includes team training, verbiage development, patient education, pricing, coding, and appointment workflow integration. - Reinforce the Importance of “Why” Over Production Metrics
Learners will frame new hygiene protocols around improved patient health outcomes, empowering hygienists to lead care initiatives aligned with the oral-systemic health link. - Practice Effective Communication and Patient Presentation
Learners will practice patient-facing verbiage and role-play scenarios to increase confidence in presenting adjunctive services while reducing discomfort around cost discussions. - Establish Standards of Care for New Protocols
Learners will work with their teams to build documentation and protocols that standardize adjunct usage based on clinical presentation and evidence-based outcomes. - Overcome Barriers to Implementation
Learners will identify and troubleshoot common obstacles, such as hygienist resistance, time constraints, or unclear financial systems, and develop contingency plans for successful rollout. - Track Results and Evaluate Impact
Learners will monitor patient outcomes, acceptance rates, and team feedback to refine the use of adjuncts and measure their impact on health and practice performance. - Foster a Culture of Growth and Clinical Innovation
Learners will lead ongoing team discussions and continuing education around hygiene innovation, cultivating a collaborative, patient-centered environment that evolves with emerging science and technology.
